Creating a PDF with an Android
Option 1: Using Google Drive (most common & built-in)
-
Open Google Drive.
-
Tap the + (plus) button in the bottom corner.
-
Tap Scan.
-
Point the camera at the document and tap the shutter.
-
Adjust edges or rotate if needed.
-
Tap Save.
-
Choose PDF (default) and name the file.
📄 The scan is saved as a PDF in Google Drive.
Option 2: Using the Camera app (newer Android phones)
(Some Samsung, Pixel, and newer Android devices support this.)
-
Open the Camera app.
-
Point at the document.
-
Look for “Scan,” “Document,” or “Lens” on the screen.
-
Tap it and follow the prompts.
-
Save as PDF.
📄 The PDF will usually save to Files or Gallery.
Option 3: Using Google Lens
-
Open Google Lens (or Camera → Lens).
-
Point at the document.
-
Tap Scan document.
-
Capture the page.
-
Select Export to PDF.

Creating a PDF with an Iphone
Scan inside the Notes app
-
Open Notes and create a new note or open one you want to add the scan to.
-
Tap the paperclip/attachment icon (instead of a camera icon) above the keyboard.
-
Choose Scan Documents from the menu that appears.
-
Position your document in view — it will auto-detect and scan.
-
Tap Keep Scan for each page, then Save when done
Tip: If you don’t see the paperclip or scan option, you need to be inside a note with your keyboard up — otherwise those toolbar buttons won’t appear.
Scan directly in the Files app (alternative)
-
Open Files.
-
Tap the three dots (•••) in the top corner.
-
Tap Scan Documents.
-
Scan pages and tap Save to store the PDF in Files.
Quick scan from home screen (optional)
-
On many iPhones, long-press the Notes app icon on your Home screen and you may see a Scan Document shortcut.
